Becoming a Leader Program, Washington DC

Some of our eleventh and twelfth graders participated in the program “Becoming a Leader” that was organized by The Heights School in Washington DC. This program consists of personalized exchange with students from different countries, and it is performed entirely in English. The program aims at developing students’ potential as future leaders of society.

During the program, our students were able to complete 50 hours of intense work divided in workshops, lectures, and debates where they addressed topics related to leadership, personal skills, working habits, teamwork, public speaking, soft skills, elevator speeches, networking, among others.

In addition, professors and specialists, from different fields, gave them lectures about remarkable world leaders who made great contributions to humanity, about characteristics needed for an efficient governance, and about leadership and influence in decision making.

Besides the academic part of the program, students had the opportunity to tour around the city and visit historical places such as the White House, the monuments to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson, the Senate, the American Congress, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court. They also visited the World Bank, The International Monetary Fund, The Inter-American Development Bank, and the Organization of American States.

Students also participated in cultural field trips to the Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of American History. In addition, they visited The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
